Older Hawk on a 2006 Tundra DC?

I have my eyes on an older pre 90's Hawk for a great price. 4wheel has told me only models from 2001 and on will fit. Anyone know a workaround like spacers, slight mods etc, or do the older hawks really not fit no way no how?

Thanks,

ST

FWC didn't specify why it would not fit? I had to built a platform to fit my 1990 Hawk on my F-250. I would clarify the reason. There hopefully is a work around. Stan, Chime in?

I think the problem is the early models are wider and will not physically fit between the tailgate opening. The openings has been getting narrower so FWC had to make the camper narrower to fit. That would be my guess based on what I have read and seen posted by Stan.

The early Hawks are to wide for the tail gate opening. I have a 2002 Hawk on a 2005 Tundra and have at the most 1/2 on each side. BIG job to narrow the bottom of the older Hawks to make them fit.

Yes, the older FWC Hawk Models will be too wide for your truck.

They usually measure 64" accross the portion of the camper that sits in the bed / tail gate area.

Some Tundra trucks only have a 58" wide tail gate opening, other Tundra trucks have a 60" wide tail gate opening.

I'm 99% sure that the 2004 - 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab trucks had the 60" wide tail gate opening ?

(you might want to check your tail gate opening measurement)

If you have a 60" wide opening in the tail gate area, you could maybe keep you eye out for a used Hawk that was built in 1990, or newer.

(example: 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, etc.)

Most customers won't find it an easy task to narrow the camper base on an old Four Wheel Camper.

Hope this helps.
