Older Nikon help

So I dug out my old Nikon D70S today and was playing with it when I realized it needed to have the firmware updated. I went to Nikon's website and found what should be the right firmware, v2.0, followed their directions and downloaded it into a folder on my desktop, got it unzipped and it opens a box with weird stuff in the sub-boxes but I kinda got that. I copied the A file to the freshly formatted card and it shows as being there but when I go back to the camera menu and go to the Firmware header it only shows my current version and no "Update" as per Nikon's website. I've messed with this for better than an hour and tried to find solutions on-line but I'm at a loss and of course there are no camera stores left most places so I'm at a loss. Any ideas? :ugh:

I was using this site: https://www.nikonimgsupport.com/na/NSG_article?articleNo=000026235&lang=en_SG

You laugh, my dad still uses his FM. I finally sold my F3HP a few years ago and still have an F5. :) The D70s was my first digital DSLR.

Make sure that you are formatting the memory card in the camera itself, and then having only the *.bin files copied to the card, one at a time. Then to check, open the card files and make sure that the *.bin is on the card. Place the card back into the camera and go to the "firmware version" on the menu and it should recognize the new file for transfer.

I did some more digging and it looks like I stumbled onto a European site and that there is no firmware update for the US D70s; that would explain the issue. Meh, it still works so I guess I'll go with it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I believe your issue is that you are trying to transfer the file directly to the camera while it is connected to the computer? As in the vid, the SD card is first formatted in the camera, then removed and connected to the computer, where the file is transferred. Then the card is removed from the computer and placed into the camera. That is exactly how I have done it for years, from a D80 to a D7000 and now a D7200.
