Here's my 84 GMC K20 that I'm just getting started on turning into a more expedition ready truck. This is what I'm starting with.

The previous owner was turning it into a mud truck, but never used it. He boxed the frame, rebuilt the drivetrain, and installed the lift and wheels. Unfortunatly he used blocks to lift it, which I am in the process of removing.

Unfortunatly he used blocks to lift it, which I am in the process of removing. I was going to lower it and install smaller 33's, but I've decided to get some less aggresive tires, more suited for on and off road use and something alittle narrower.

How does one box the frame? Great looking truck!

Thanx, clandr
To box the frame you'd take the normal C channel frame and weld in another side making it basically square. It makes the frame alot stronger and less flexible.

daly-
Nice looking 3/4 ton you've got there!!! Please do yourself a favor though and don't drive it anywhere until you ditch those front blocks! (SCARY, SKETCHY, bad ju-ju!!!) Looks like a great start though! I'd actually recommend keeping those 35's, the rear 14bff turns into a nice anchor if your run small tires, LOL! Drop it down to about 3" lift with some real front springs (like some Tuff Country EZ rides- nice smooth ride!), and a rear shackle flip with the stock springs and no block. It'll require a bit of fender trimming but, those 35's will fit!!! (I'm running 37's on a Jimmy with a 3" lift and 1 ton axle swap (so effectively 4" of total lift)) and some fender trimming. Gotta go, got friends in the driveway honking the horn!!!

Rooster that's just awesome that you have pics showing the kids with you out there camping! Love it! Mine are so used to the standard campground type camping, I'm trying to change that now. Love the pics, very cool.
