OME suspension?

Yes, if I'm understanding which plastic supports you are talking about, yes I did, they need to come off. You should visit Toyota120.com and look for the threads about the Shrockworks front bumper. Lots of good 4th Gen 4Runner info there.

I can see how the adjustability of the bags can come into play while pulling a trailer. The biggest/heaviest trailer I've towed so far was the biggest Uhaul dual axle, although it pulled it just fine it would have been nice to stiffen and raise the back a tad. I'm looking at setting up a M416 trailer (still looking for the trailer) so that ability would be a nice feature to have.

Thanks for the info. If theres anything else you can think of, you know where I'll be...

BTW, when you installed the bumper, did you remove those black plastic pieces on either side of the fenders, where the OEM bumper seemed to have been supported? It seems like they are rubbing on the Shrockworks, every big bump and/or pot hole (lots of them this time of year) it thunks. When I finally pull the bumper back off for the winch install I'm figuring I'll pull those supports off. I cant think of anything else that could be making a racket, except if the Shrockwork supports that bolt up to the side of the frame are shifting... I did pick up some new bolts, as I found the ones supplied by Shrockworks had too long of a shank. Maybe this weekend I'll have the time to install them and perhaps that will help.

Rear swing arm bumper, sliders... they are slowly creeping up on the next to do list.

Is that because you do more slow speed travel than high speed off-highway? I do, and would assume most others do too (not that I don't travel fast on easy/fast washboard dirt road, cause I do that sometimes too).

Not trying to knock the coil-overs but it's interesting to hear someone say the OME is that good and they might not do the adjustable coil overs if they had to do it again.

The SAWS are amazing, but I could have dual cases now instead. Maybe if I lived somewhere else like I would feel different.

I drive faster now that I have the SAWS. THe heavier coil is nice in the rocks sometimes to. The OME was great and it got every where and back with ease. They deffinatly faded faster on wash board but It was never a big enough issue. I am simply saying I would have rather put the the money else where. There are other things that are more important to me. Just my opinion. The SAWS are great and if money flowed more freely then I would get them over OME but it doesn't.

Maybe I just have to many hobbies.

I hear ya... too many hobbies, too many toys on the list. I've been wanting to get a new stoner rifle (AR) but everytime I get the fund up I find something else I "need". At this rate by the time I'm ready for the stoner, Hillary will be in office enforcing another Clinton ban on firearms. I didnt really need the bumper or the off road lights, but I'm glad I bought them. And yes, I have taken advantage of them already. Its nice not having to worry about scraping up a cheap plastic bumper on something like iced over snow banks. I park the truck in the snow at work because I can... coworkers think I'm losing it. Only drawback is the drop in height, which was already a issue at factory height.

Speaking of height... do most of these aftermarket kits advertise their lift compared to the standard factory truck or one that has a off-road package?

I'll have to see what the taxes (hopefully) bring back and see if I can spring (pun intended) for a nice suspension kit fairly soon.

The Shrockworks instructions didnt mention the supports. Of course they didnt mention a few other things, such as drilling a hole in the front support for the bottom bolt, but I suppose the truck they worked on might have been different.

I pm'd you. I am in Colorado Springs. I have done a few OME kits now for some friends and my truck. Shoot me a message if you end up doing it yourself and need some help.

O.K.
My previous budget is now shot to %$#@. Unexpected car repairs and misc. stuff around house. What is the next best thing by way of lift, load carrying capacity other than replacing suspension. I definitely have to replace the rear shocks. I measured the lift as it sits now and I am at 20" in the front and 21.75" in the rear. *Measured from center of hub to bottom of fender flare. I also have to get new tires.

dang budgets, that is too bad. just wondering what size tire you can fit with the OME lift. can you go 33x10.5? anybody run 31s with the OME lift? do they just look too small or is it ok. I am in the market but am really torn about the gas money. less money spent equals more trips but taller tires would really help in the deep snow. Any body have pics of 31s and OME on a tacoma? I have a 98 v6 5spd trd ltd and the bed/kitchen set up really weighs on it nt to mention the gear added on to that.:Mechanic:
