Yeah those are cool, but those little diesel engines are not allowed here at all. The first requirement to import is the engine has to have been imported officially in another vehicle from that factory. But I believe its ok as long as they are 25 or older. These engines are gutless though like most older G's and Land rovers except for some of the current models, especially when loaded with overland gear.

I have several 25+ year old cars to my disposal. Once they are here, I can mod the engine or stick more powerful US diesel engines in them.
Right now I am just concerned about the legality of the cars I want to bring and the cost associated with shipping and import.

That would be great. Shipping is per container, a few years ago it was about 2500 for a 20' and duty depends on the value.

If the engine is not allowed in it is likely that the whole vehicle won't be allowed in, I don't think you can skirt the rules in your country by swapping a new motor in. I would get a clarification on that before filling a container.

There is a Wolf on ebay right now. I'll just watch and see when it gets here. If it does that should clarify any Engine uncertainties.

So what are the cost if I bring in a 88 or older ? Thats what I am looking at, a couple of 1988 and 1987 wolf

You can't easily bring a Wolf in as it's a W461 chassis. Only W460 and W463 chassis are available to import into the USA. Read that last sentence carefully for loopholes.
