dodge. i do like the raptor but ive heard that the shocks are boobytrapped. if you use the truck as it is marketed - ie jumping, or lots of heavy suspension flexing it'll show up in the shocks' fluid and void all warranty. not sure if it's true, but it might be worth checking into. those raptors scream "drive fast & drive hard." saw tons of them in baja. they are impressive offroad. The hemi is a screamer. we made the run from the border to la paz in 14.5 hours (if you take out the time we spent in bathrooms thanks to bad tacos in Tijuana). they handle nice on and offroad (we took a few shortcuts). you'll get a performer either way, but i'd definitely check out that warranty.

One issue is major un-proven Raptor parts, new 10 spd and High Out Put Twin Turbo. The Dodge has worked out issues over the years. It really is fast versus more overall capability.

What does the aftermarket look like for each? One of the real downsides (or good for your wallet) is that Montero has limit aftermarket. All of the bolt-ons are one of the most compelling things about the Jeep platform.... Raptor has been out for a few years, probably in a similar situation.

Raptor might carry a higher insurance rating, costing more in the long run.

Both trucks are amazing. If i had the money id have both, they each have their pros and cons. i like the Dodge having a solid front axle and front and rear lockers stock. Id probably go that route. check out youtube for some awesome power wagon videos.

Aftermarket is insane for the original Raptor and most of the aftermarket advertises on the Raptor forums. Heck one even invites members over to look at a 2017 they are making stuff for in Phoenix. As to Dodge, they make plenty of trucks so plenty of aftermarket, but what do you need? Lockers nope? Lift nope, can fit 35's, I dont need 37's or bigger on a daily driver. Winch? Nope, has one..............Doubt I would ever do much to either though. My biggest concerns on the Ram are reliability, which seems better on recent Ram trucks from what I can tell and fuel mileage. The Raptor has some really cool technology but an un-tested drive train and I wont be able to buy one locally as they will be jacking the prices sky hi so I would have to fly to get one.

I vote Power Wagon. I personally don't like the looks of the raptor. Too wide and bloated looking. Every time I see one I assume it's being driven by a spoiled high school kid. I've never driven either one so I can really only give my thoughts on appearance.

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
As much as i'm not a Dodge fan, for your use Lloyd the Powerwagon is a no brainer. It is built to work and the Raptor just isn't, as much as the Raptor will be more fun to play with I know you will put it to work and it won't like that too much.

I personally enjoyed the hang time we had. It Felt like it lasted forever, mostly due to the fact that I didnt think catching that much air would really happen.

Good times, we are a bunch of old dudes now. Pretty soon we'll be a bunch of royal dead dudes.

Its funny we do way crazier trails with less damage these days.....But we know our limits now, and have more money for trips and mods. Hell, you guys actually bring food now!
