While in Florida we did what everyone does when they make it to 90s, sunny, and beaches. Took selfies, lounged on the beach, went sailing, snorkeling, and good dinning View attachment 287006 View attachment 287007
On our way up from Key west we visited awesome family friends in Orlando and went to Epcot where my wife became 5 again. We then continue to Ocala and spent time with family. We got to see a cousin and her family which I had not seen in years. It has been great getting to reconnect with family sense they are scattered all over the world
Heading north, we stopped in Rome GA for a couple of days. It was the plan to see tons of friends but spent our days helping my parents fix the mess the previous renters had left. What time we had in the late afternoons we explored Berry College in a way I had never before smile emoticon by motorcycle smile emoticon. It was great to show my wife where I grew up after moving to the US from South America
Driving from Key West to Colorado on a motorcycle mostly by back roads was an amazing experience. We are now in Colorado Springs with my sister. The truck is good to go, gear will soon be packed, and our trip to Alaska is soon to commonsense
I just found this write up and I am so jealous. I have been wanting to plan another trip ever since my last one in 2008. If you are coming up through B.C. and want some ideas of things to check out pm me.
After spending some time in Colorado springs, fixing the truck, and getting a trailer to tow the bike to the Pacific Northwest, we hit the road. When we got the motorcycle on the trailer it wasn't more than 5 minuted before I heard a big thump, looked back and saw sparks flying everywhere! It was 10pm and luckily nobody on the road behind us. One of the cheap straps ripped and the bike came half off the trailer and dragged down the road. God was watching over us because not much damage at all happened to the bike. Boy I almost had a heart attack when I stopped the truck, ran back to the trailer, and saw the bike laying on its side on the road! Fun time! We have made it back to Washington and have been spending some time East of Portland hanging out with good friends. We are getting the big trailer ready for its trip to Alaska! Tomorrow the journey north continues.
finally made it to Alaska! What an awesome trip. It took us a couple of days to drive through Canada. Got to see a couple of bears, moose and elk. No trouble of any kind with our gear or trip. God has been good to us watching us along the way. Time to explore the last frontier!
Exploring different countries has been amazing but I have to say north america holds tons of majestic places. Though I was not born in the US, I love this country and all it has to offer. It is why I served and swore to protect it. 'Merica! Loving the last frontier!
Sense we have been in Alaska we have spent some time helping family out around the house and with projects. I got my hands on restoring a 60s airstream so that is going to be interesting. The chicken coop turned out good and helping the brother in law with his move to the east coast went smooth. We took some time to explore Hatchers Pass just north of Wasilla where we have been staying. What a beautiful place. There is a huge fire just north of us "as i am sure all of you know" that has burnt many houses and is giving the fire teams a hard time. I am hoping to be able to help out when it is all under control. Alaska has been a fun experience so far and being with family has been fun. Any ideas of where to explore? I know we want to make it to Dead Horse but I read that the road north suffered great flooding and they are working on it right now. Not sure if its accessible yet but we will see.
What a wonderful time we had in Kodiak AK. To experience the last frontier with friends and family has been wonderful. My wife got to see where I grew up in Colombia and I am fortunate to have seen where she was born and spent most of her childhood. We got to spend time on the water gill netting, halibut fishing, kayaking, and also hiked barometer mountain trail. The adventure continues !
Great hike at Hatchers pass. Looks like Alaska is going to be our home for a little while. I will be going to flight school at the University of anchorage to get my commercial rating. Should be a great experience learning to fly in back country Alaska. We are looking forward to getting to know this vast land. The road has been our friend. It has raised many questions as to what is next? where do we want to live? what do we want to do when we grow up? The more we travel, and the more I see the amazing adventures others are doing, the more I get motivated to live a life outside the norm. It stuck with me what our fellow traveler said while cycling from Oregon to Argentina. " Routine is the enemy of time. I reflect upon this and see how my life has stayed outside of that routine, and I want it to stay so. the adventure continues
Today's adventure: Riding up the mountain to check out a B29 crash site from 1956. 8 Souls were on board. RIP Comrades. Thank you for believing in what you were fighting for. The freedom that we have is because men like you sacrifice their lives so that we may live ours.
On our way back from the top we had to help a fellow rider get out of the swamp
