View attachment 16998After over 15 years of using borrowed canoes I decided it was time. A handcrafted 15'5" like the one in the photo but without inlay work. He (James Gjesing - www.handcraftedcanoes.com )is going to craft some custom lashing points for my drybags, rifle case and survival kit. I should have it in May.

That is so nice looking I would be afraid to get it wet. You are going to have a lot of people asking about your boat when you go out. Wooden kayaks and canoes always do.

Enjoy It!

Wow that looks great. I love wooden boats!

Watch out how you strap it to the roof - no metal buckles against the wood or over-tightening.

Cheers,
Graham

I was working in Waterloo yesterday so I stopped by to check on my new canoe build. James told me that he expects completion in 2 weeks. It looks like the tie downs will be carbon fibre instead of cnc machined wood (old world meets new world). Here are a couple of (poor) shots of my new canoe.

Very nice looking canoe. I have an 18' red cedar stripper that I built about 25 years ago, and it is still turning heads and going strong. Enjoy!

We had, when I was growing up, a cherry Old Town square back wood canoe. Had many great times in that canoe.
