Spent last week in Ouray. Left Monday, stopped by Proffitts Cruisers on the way down. Man do they have a lot of work..... Tuesday I headed up to Mineral Point. Explored the mine and some of the side roads. On my way back down to 550, saw a moose in front of me walking down the road. A jeep was coming up the other direction, so I turned of the vehicle so he could get by. Wednesday I headed up to Yankee Boy and Governor Basin and did a little bit of exploring. Thursday I was to lazy to do anything and just hung out, did have lunch at the brewery in Silverton. Friday I headed up Corkscrew Gulch to Hurricane Pass, California Pass down into California Gulch into Animas Forks for lunch. After lunch did Placer Gulch and Picayne Gulch and down into Silverton. As I was driving down the paved road to get into Silverton to meet some friends(they did other trails), I came upon a green T100 with a camper. Thought to myself that it looked familiar and turned around, sure enough it was KCwyo from this board. We talked for a bit before parting ways. Caught up with my friends in Silverton before we headed back to camp.
Saturday everybody had shown up from the club and we had a total of 14 rigs for the day. We headed south on 550 to Black Bear Pass. Bruce and Barbra Miller lead the group over in there lifted Prado. Not to much trouble through the first section. We arrived at the decent of the pass and started down. Everybody made it down without incident. The second switch back got me a little for some reason:confused: ..... but made it around. We had lunch in Telluride. Lots of people on town as the film festival was going on. After lunch we head to Imogene. Stopped shortly at Tomboy before continuing on. We had a little bit of traffic on the other side of the pass, but managed to get everybody down. Once back in OUray we stopped at the hot springs. A good way to end a long day of wheeling:cool: .

Here are some pics, working on downloading the rest... will post more later:beer: .

Wow, Ouray looks like a blast... I went to school for 6 months in Denver back in '97 and I'm dying to get out of NY and return to CO. At least I can live vicariously through threads like this in the meantime :) .

This would be one of many dream trips for me. You just hit all kinds of incredible stuff. I would probably not be too out of line saying you did some of the premier backcountry trails in the nation - would I?

BTW, I am really diggin' that Prado. How did he end up with that?

Awesome pics Perry! :clapsmile

I just wish we could have had more time to visit, especially if we could have gotten the cooker involved. I have to agree that you guys did some of the best trails in the San Juans.

Wish I'd known about the Film Festival in Telluride before I got there. What a mess! It was great meeting, even if completely random. Maybe we could plan another one soon!

When I get another wheeler...we'll go, so mark your schedule for next July/August! They're great trails!

You just let me know when you want to come and I would be honored travel with you. Timing is a little tough and all about compromises. Flower season is early to mid July, but it is also the most crowded. Too early and you run into unplowed trails, too late and it is still beautiful, but no flowers.

There is some great hiking in addition to great wheeling in the area, lots of places that are not accessible by truck, though I bet Andrew could get to a lot of them by motorcycle.

Timing just didn't work out for me this year, but I hope to do it again next year.

Great photos. Seven years in Colorado and I still haven't made it down there yet! I'm trying to plan a 5-6 day trip down there next summer. I just have to have the wife buy off on it. Maybe this thread will help convince her.

Yeah, the "dating" was a lot of fun. Sounds like your just outside the hustle and bustle.

Bergger, i'll try and get some more photos up soon to help you out. Have not even posted them on the club forum...... Hopefully I can start putting them up on the website this weekend.....
