Outpost Truck Campers

It ticks a lot of boxes for me, in particular a good electrical system and an induction cooktop so you don't need propane. With every option, it comes to the mid-40s, which still more affordable than many. I would put it on flatbed for more storage, which is a little tight.

FYI, someone at the company told me:

-- The sprayer shown in the video will be able to be used internal or externally. I assume they're going to offer some sort of shower curtain/enclosure.
-- The AC unit draws between 500w - 900w if you're running it between ECO mode and full blast.
-- With the AC unit, they highly advise upgrading to another 2kw battery and/or adding the optional 400w portable solar panel.

Nice camper, nice price. Wish it had a north/south queen bed instead of east/west, that would be a hard sale for the wife.

It's Very hard to make the bed orientate the other way around while working with a limited interior space. The overall goal was to create a camper for smaller trucks with all bells and whistles without going over the payload limitations.
Cheers and thanks for the feedback!

Most do it with a slide out extension. Look at the Tune M1, Scout Camper, etc
On my end it’s not so much the wife. More the fact that at 78in tall, I can’t buy this camper. With a N/S, feet can go past the end of the bed, and so all tall people can now buy the camper.

We are N-S.
It is a fundamental must have. Not negotiable.
It is not as if your yank tanks have any length restriction to the bed coming further forward.
In our new build it is tapered towards the front to reduce tree impact potential.

Maybe a dumb question but is it not possible to lengthen the cabover portion for these off-the-shelf builds?

No dumb question at all! Glad you asked.
We can make panels up to 40' long... That's not the limitation... We can also create very od shaped and dimensioned habitats. With demountable truck campers, we ran into a couple of challenges, especially when it comes to working with lightweight materials. The first challenge is the centre of gravity that needs to be far enough behind the front mounting points and camper jacks to prevent tipping over in various of situations. Any certified truck camper manufacturer needs to comply to that according to DOT. Can't imagine getting into a lawsuit after the camper tips onto a kid or car when sitting on the ground. There are lots of end users that use campers of the truck.

In other words: yes, in theory it would be easy to offer a longer cab over.... Instead we like to keep it safe and stay within some sound engineering/calculations.

I'm fully aware that others are offering longer cab overs..... They do it because people are asking for. We rather create a product that we can safely stand behind.

I dunno. Everything is SUPER TERRIFIC! Wouldn't be surprised if they were paid.

Not familiar with this specific influencer/user. But I know for sure that any coverage/videos/social media person will ask for a return in some shape or form. Every manufacturer is creating content like that.
Aside from that, a quality presentation like this one is more entertaining and easier to watch than a sales pitch by an RV dealership!

Cheers,

I had a look at their site and they aren't in the habit of advertorials at least, and haven't gotten enough clicks on any videos to warrant much of a discount on anything.

Regarding the overhead bunk and balance... couldn't you supply a large rock that they can stick in the back of the shell, along with instructions and warning stickers? 🤪 This should only be an issue before the build-out, anyway.
