Front shackle hanger upgrade

I'm replacing the shackle hangers all the way around, but I started with the front since I don't have all the bushings for the rear chevy springs or another set of jjoint hangers yet. So everything is triangulated and gusseted 3/16 steel with rebuildable jjoint hangers.

Excuse me if I'm being a little slow  but what's different/special about these johnny joint shackle mounts you've got going on here? I've heard about them a couple of times before but still don't understand..

Well my hangers needed replacement so I went with the jjoint, which is a rebuildable orbit eye or think of it as a rebuildable heim joint/hanger. I hope that makes sense. The hangers have about 30 degrees of movement and this releives stress off the frame and provides a little more travel.

Roger that. It is all making MUCH more sense now! So they work the same way as those orbital spring eyes that All-Pro used for a while a few years back? At least I think it was those guys....

Exactly, in fact the johnny joints are All Pro and yeah they are just like the orbit eyes only they are the hanger instead being in the spring eye, you could run both.

New panhard bracket

I know, I know, not another pan hard but my brackets on my rig are some of the first I ever made so it's about time for a change considering this thing has become kind of a rolling resume over the years. If you've ever hand made your own brackets than you would understand how nice it would be to have a C&C or some other machine just stamp things out.

The all mighty flap disks:bowdown:

I will be installing one of these set ups on another Taco on Saturday, so I should have some finished product then.

finished product

Installed the new pan hard design on my friends Tacoma last night, his original pan hard frame bracket was about an 1.5" to long plus he is in need of bumpstops and he bottomed out on his bracket one to many times and managed to rip it off his frame. The only times I have seen this happen, it's always due to bottoming out , bumpstops are not over rated. We are still waiting on a shippment of bump stops, once they are here I will install them as well.

New frame plates, brackets & shock hoops

Well now that all my friends projects are finished for now I decided to get back to my rig. So here is some more boring crap to look at. Plating both sides of the frame and replacing my old pan hard brackets with the new design. The shock hoops are basic but needed to be changed due to them being ground on and the shock tabs moved multiple time over the years plus they needed to be up sized to match the future tube fenders gage and O.D. Here are a few photo's, I'll get some better shots in a bit, camera issues last night.

I don't find it boring! I find it helps me to understand what goes into fabricating and building a killer truck. :punk03:
