Overland Vehicle Design & Development Videos

I just finished editing video for AT, it's a short 8 parts series on vehicle design and development.

Mario runs through everything from the thought process behind a build, through basic concepts, moving to design and placement.

I think its a good prep for anyone thinking of outfitting their vehicle as an overland rig, or those who have already done a build but are not 100% happy with it, and want to make changes. The videos can be used by the home-builder or those looking for a full design and install.

The videos cover:
Video 1: The basic concepts behind designing an Overland vehicle
Video 2: Interior Storage, safe easily accessible storage design
Video 3: Interior Storage, an in depth look at layout and function
Video 4: The mobile work space or office
Video 5: Interior lighting and 12 volt
Video 6: Interior mechanical set up
Video 7: Exterior storage and equipment
Video 8: The kitchen

The series can be seen here.

I like the wrench roll in the lower storage drawer as shown in the second video. :sombrero:

Nice job on the videos.

Very nicely done. I hope this innovation catches on and can be included into its own section on Expedition Portal titled "Video Build Threads". I know the video series was intended to demonstrate AT capabilities but I found it to be a great glimpse inside that low mileage MJ for details not included in it's ExPo build thread.

The videos do demonstrate the capabilities of AT, but the videos are also there to get people thinking about how to achieve their goals in a practical manner.

It's so easy to start building up a vehicle, trying to fit everything in including the kitchen sink, many times you end up with something that just doesn't work in the field.

We understand that not everyone is going to buy from us, and that's OK, we are happy to provide the content as a way to support the community.

:iagree: Which sums up the kind of ideas and inspiration I draw from build threads. I am pleased to see this in video format. I hope to see a series dedicated to the JK habitat, Chaser/Horizon and Oasis outfitting too.

You should see the awesome emergency spice kit that goes with it ;)

The emergency spice kit is a real life saver.

I once plugged a radiator leak when we were in the middle of the Namib Desert with just 2 teaspoons of Tumeric seeds.

That's a great story. So, how long did the seeds hold the seal?

My good fried who owns the Series III Land Rover is never one to do maintenance or fix something that has been "repaired" or isn't broken.

3 years after the trip the cooling system was running fine, smelt a bit like a curry, but no overheating.

On the same trip we lost our steering in the sand at Soussos Vlei. The castle nut on the pitman arm fell off. Much to everyone surprise we found all the parts with the exception of the cotter pin. I put the whole thing back together and used one of my wife's bobby pins to hold everything in place. That was also on the vehicle 3 years later :Wow1:

The Tumeric I left in the coolant, the bobby pin I replaced.

Just finished watching these, and I wanted to say thanks for taking the time to put them together. There's some really good insight in those videos; clearly a lot of thought went into that setup and it shows :sombrero:
