Being a novice, I need to ask the forum what do you think of this type of trailer for overland travel? specifically the pacmule 1. In general, are aluminum trailers tough enough for non technical or extreme routes..? These seem well built. The company has been doing dog trailers for years and recently started this market. www.pacmuletrailers.comthanks for the input.

They start at $4250 for the Pacmule 1 , which is the size most of us would get and price includes a nose box, electric brakes, free shipping within 1000 miles. Options will increase cost but not as costly as one of you has said.
Can anyone comment on the material and how it has stood up with other products?:)

I think many off-road trailers are constructed with a steel tube frame and aluminum panels. But there's no reason why an all aluminum trailer couldn't be as strong.

I'd like to know more about the trailer's axle and suspension. Because these details are not described on the web site (at least I didn't see it) I'm guessing that the trailers have a conventional axle with leaf springs. More sophisticated designs use independent trailing arms, sometimes with air bags to supplement a coil spring.

I'd want to know more about the trailer's warranty. And I'd check to see how well the compartments are sealed against penetration by dust and water.

You might want to compare the Pacmule with designs from USA companies Adventure Trailers (http://www.adventuretrailers.com) and Campa USA (http://www.campausa.com). Also see Australian manufacturers like Kimberley Kampers (http://www.kimberleykampers.com/) for ideas about how a proven off-road camper is built.

Thanks Haven for your input. The pacmule comes with a torsion axle and the suspension comes optional with 2 Firestone airbags like the ATs I suspect. i've inquired about the warranty too and will find out. I talked to the owner he can build an all steel trailer too.
I'm trying to decide between the overland trailer sherpa II RL (good following) and the pacmule (not a lot of info on blogs). I can only justify a trailer that has multipurpose hauling ability. I'm leery about going with the pacmule because it seems no one has heard of it. I 'd hate to be the guinea pig! The price is enticing and they can do custom work as well.
