Wow, can't believe I never notiiced this thread. I've got a few contributions..

Most of these are scans from my Dad's memorial a couplle years ago.

My dads old expedition rig. He and my Mom drove this to Iowa in 1981, sleeping in the back and hitting backroads in places like Yellowstone.

The woodstrip canoe he built from plans he bought in a magazine. On the Willamette river heading back from Rock Island, upstream from Willamette Falls.

Not paddling yet, he built this Fulbot kayak from a kit.

Ryan, that looks like a Sawyer Cruiser beside the woodstrip canoe on the VW van. Is it?

Silverdude--what kind of wooden canoe paddle is that?

Well that paddle split and broke once on the river while we were paddling. Rather then buy a new one my dad took a piece of oak scrap wood and some Gorilla glue and repaired it. Yeah its heavy and not so glamorous. But, works surprisingly well. The longer side works great for rudder control when in the steer seat. Customized :bike_rider:

I am def. exploring this area someday, it's in the plan, but sadly further away in time than I'd like it to be. This place always seems like a world away, very nice pictures.

Last few posts have been pretty outstanding. Between Kristian's and the shots from Alaska, we're covering some serious ground around North America.

Here are some from the southern section of the States, Santa Fe River in High Springs Florida area

Paddling-the-Beautiful-Santa-L.jpg

The river is realy low this year because of the drought we're having. They told us its close to 30" lower than normal. We had to portage through this which was pretty nasty and scary since we had just seen a gator sitting on the shoreline right before we had to tromp through this shin deep layer of green

I'd rather have the brown bears than the alligators. And it has been a while since anyone I know paddled in shorts and a bathing suit.

Looks like fun
