Paint color pole!

It's come time for new paint. I've been able to live with the sun burn on my roof but recently the clearcoat has started to chip off my hood and fenders. That's put it in my mind to get a paint job this winter and I wanted to ask advice or opinions on Color options.

I'm thinking ether staying willow green or going to Sand Glow (I know another one) or going with the orange from the G4 Disco II's.
What do you guys think would be the best to live with on a daily driver?

I would go with the willow green, I think its just a classic land rover color. But then again I'm biassed seeing how I want to paint my Landy that color.

The best result will likely be to go with the original color, unless you're going to be taking it to pieces to get all the door jambs, engine bay and so on... everyone's level of ambition is different. That being said, if you're going to go for the full fandango, you might as well go for something that's genuinely different.

I believe there's a product similar to PlastiDip that can be professionally colored to mimic any automotive paint. You could always save a bunch of money by just painting the afflicted panels for real, and once that's cured changing the color of the truck to sandglow for next year, and do G4 orange the year after that using the aforementioned product. No idea if it's any good or competitively priced.

X 2 from Mlu on plasti-dip. I would give it a good sanding to get the peeling off in the areas you need and then shoot a good primer sealer on it. Then plasti-dip it.

I like the idea of a sand color. I hate to say it, but Jeep and Toyota have a nice sand color now and I think classic Rover would trump them all.

Check out the new subaru colors. They really pop. I'd love to do my defender in their version of sand/tan whatever they call it...

Don't Plasti-Dip it unless you are a poser who struts his stuff down at the mall. It's hack. It's cliche.

(I'll follow up with a post that more frankly presents my opinion on Plasti-Dip.)

:)

Separately - I am not a fan of base coat / clear coat paint on an expedition vehicle. Perhaps chat with your local auto body supply store or your painter to see what single-stage products are available.

Oh I agree, if you're worried about what other people think of your choice of color or material then you should probably stay away from whatever it is you think people are going to think about. But if you're considering a bright orange Land Rover then I'm guessing that's not something you worry about... and rightly so.

Less sarcastically, though... to each their own. Plasti-Dip and the like are not for everyone or for all applications.
