I have decided to Paint the Hard top on my Jk fro black to white. I'm going to use Duplacolor bright white spray paint. Are then any good prep steps besides sanding it and primer the top gray???

you may need to use something for plastic that has a flexibility agent in the paint so it doesnt crack and flake when the top flexes. I have heard that Krylon fusion paint for plastics works well for the older jeep tops, havent heard about results from the duplicolor product

I used rustoleum flat black on my YJ hardtop... 2 yrs no fading/cracking/chipping
(YJ now sold... so I cannot comment further)

Some sort of lost...
If you want to drive to Oregon I'll trade my new white factory painted top for a couple hundred bucks. lol
I wanted a black top but the only thing I could find that met my criteria had painted fenders and top.

Did you ever paint your top? How did it come out?

I'm also bringing this up for a shameless plug. Haha. I'm selling my factory white painted hard top outright from my 2012 if anyone is interested. It stays nice and cool even on hot sunny days! In the Portland Oregon area. My taxes weren't favorable to me this year and I need just a little more cash to buy an Ursa Minor top. I don't want to send a deposit until I have the full balance in my account with spare cash.

media blast?

im pretty sure from the scratches on mine that the underlying plastic is white so if you just took the black paint off....white top?!:ylsmoke:

I ended up just painting the center of the top with Roll on Valspar outdoor paint.

It came out Nice and is a close Match in mat finish. Next time I have the top off I think I will paint the rest of it the same way.

We have had I couple of warmer days here in Austin since I put the hard top on in October. What is had observed is that with the windows cracker it made a big difference in the heat inside when I would jump in. With the Windows up maybe a little it was hard to tell. I also was using i windshield sun screen.
