We got a wild hair Friday and decided to head to Death Valley.
Decided to leave at 9:00AM, hit the highway by 11:30 and were sitting in camp with a glass of wine by 6:30.
We stayed at Panamint Springs Resort in the camp ground.

The next day we made a loop through Wilderose Canyon, you come on this little Oasis mid way up the canyon

Mahagony Flats Campground is at 8100' and over looks the Bad Water section of Death valley. We stopped for lunch there, here are a couple of views from our lunch stop.

Sunday Morning we saw this Vespa parked at the resturant, it was loaded up with camping gear. Talk about dedication to adventure!!

We spotted this road between Keeler and Lone Pine. Later we found out it is a paved road to Horeshoe Meadows equestrian area.

When we stopped for lunch a Hawk decided to join us not a greta picture but you can make him out in the tree we were parked under.

What sort of temps did you experience?
We slept with the windows open at night.
During the day we were at high elevations so it stayed pretty cool, I'd say mid 70's at 8100'. Sunday when we were packing up it was getting hot at Panamint Springs by 9:30am.
You can always check the Death Valley Morning Report for current temps.

Thanks for the quick update. I use those links but a field report is always more informative for me. :bike_rider:

I love Panamint and DV. Thanks for sharing. You're glad you didn't get a 'wild hair' this weekend, they're having a huge event (fall haul) at PSR and they probably are fully booked.

We called Friday before we left the house to check availability.
Sometime we just go someplace and adapt to whatever we find. Usually these are the best trips.
