FWIW, I use a Diamond NR770HNMO Antenna mated to a Diamond K400CNMO mount on the drivers side of my hood (1999 Tacoma TRD), and have been really please with the setup.

I use almost the exact same setup on my '08 Tacoma except that I'm using a Comet antenna instead of the Diamond, and I've been really pleased with everything. I can't remember now exactly what my SWR was when I set everything up, but I think it was ~1.5.

Thank you both. I am headed into town tomorrow to what is really the only local vendor to see what they have. I will do the best I can picking from their selection to at least get me on the air. After that I expect internet purchases will be the way to go.
