Penitente Canyon and Natural Arch, Colorado 4.29.23

Towards the end of April I was able to break away from work early on a Friday and headed down to Penitente Canyon and Natural Arch area in southern Colorado for a quick camping trip and to get some hiking in around the area - reservations are required for the campground but there is dispersed camping around the area.

Camp setup for the night since the zipper on my tent wasn't functioning properly.

Trying some different camera settings on my phone to see how night photos would come out. I'm always amazed at the number of stars that you see in the night sky when you get away from the lights of the city.

Hiking in the morning.

Natural Arch just a couple of miles drive from the canyon.

After hiking around the I did a little more exploring around some of the local roads. just north of the canyon - not sure what this mining area is called.

Crystal Hill mining area - had the area to myself minus a couple of deer.

After making a quick lunch and do some more exploring the area it was time to head for home. More roads in this area than I have time to explore - overall it was a great Friday/Saturday to get out.
