I realize it's kind of late to be asking this, but I'm in Anchorage so the eclipse doesn't even start for a couple hours. Any suggestions for settings?
I just bought a Nikon D300s and I will likely have my Nikon 80-200 AF-S 2.8 mounted. From what little reading I have done I was thinking ISO 100, f-stop around 8 and then setting the shutter for a 30 second exposure. I have a remote shutter release and Bogen tripod, so I'm not too worried about introducing vibration. Any recommendations from night shot people? Am I on the right track......or?
I'll post pics tomorrow of what I do get. If you're out there tonight shooting please post up yours as well
EDIT - Saw this tutorial linked in another thread http://dgrin.smugmug.com/gallery/13098771_t6ehR It looks like my thinking is backwards. I'll try keeping the aperture at 2.8 and cranking the iso to 1600 or so. We'll see how it goes. It's not like I don't have a couple of hours to play around with different settings lol
