Pic request of BFG KM2s in 255/85/16

KM2s

I'm in the same boat... 285/75/16 or 255/85/16.

Bouncing back and forth... mpg concerns vs. mud concerns (I live in Texas).
How do you guys think these skinny tires will perform in the mud?
I like the idea of no rubbing, but on my 4Runner it is a simple matter of pounding out a pinch weld... no major surgery.

Anyways, I would love to hear some test results.....

so i read this thread, liked all the input on why the size is good. went to discount and tirerack. neither has any manufacturer making a tire in the 255/85/16. what gives?

i finally find a new rig, pick a size, and their extinct!

so if they did go the way of the dodo, whats the next best choice. i just picked up a 94 trooper and would like that size for my plans.

thanx for listening

255/85/16 is not extinct, you're just looking in the wrong places.

To find the 255/85/16 size you need to go to a dedicated offroad shop that stocks it (for example: 4wheelparts).

Tirerack and Discount Tires is geared more towards passenger cars and the typical suv/truck tire sizes and does not carry the large tire sizes.

You could always find a set of 235/85-16's (31.7x9.3/16) as well. I am about 1,500 miles into my new M/T's, Load E, 10 ply, and I couldn't be happier... Except the extra 1" from a 255/85.. But at the price I paid, it was a no-brainer to go 235's.

Here's my Xterra with 235/85's on 16" OE Tacoma spare wheels..

How about the 255's on a 7.5" wheel? I know the BFG site says it will take up to an 8", but I was wondering about sidewall bulge.
