Picked a generator

Use to have a Jayco Offroad camper with a 4000 watt generator strapped to the front. Was nice having electricity, specially when the rest of the family are females. I used tips on RVnet.com to quiet it down, but was sensative to camp off on our own and only run it for a short time during the day when we were actually using it. I would also walk to my nearest neighbors and if I could hear it at all, talk to them about it to make sure it wasn't bothering them.

I sold the camper and the Generator. I wanted to get a quiet and more portable unit.

Reseraching all the generators, the chinese ones seem to be increasing and are about 10db higher than the Honda and Yamaha's

Seems like the new Yamaha 2000 Watt model is equievelant in sound to the Honda or so close it doesn't mater. The Yamaha also has a gas gauge as well and is less expensive then the Honda

Found the best price on wise sales with free shipping

Didn't see a lot in here on this generator from a search so I thought I would start a thread. I'll be trying mine out in Moab in a few weeks. I do have Dual Batteries in my trailer, so I don't expect to need it much.

I know my daughter has said she needs to be able to use her hairdryer when she cleans up after coming off the trail. She is actually one of the better wheelers in the club. The below pics are of her and her 4runner.

Heck, I installed the onboard shower in my truck because she wanted to do the Rubicon trail with me.

check craigslist. I picked up a Honda 1000 watt for about $400 and a Kipor 2000 watt, i.e. Honda 2000 watt knockoff, for $400 also. Both worked great.

Just a thought, I don't know if they are available as of yet, but ENGEL is coming out with a new line of generators that are using Honda engines. You might want to contact ENGEL and check out the cost and availability. ENGEL USA will be at the 2010 Overland EXPO, if your attending you could talk with them in person.

I did check craogslist and looking for a 2000Watt gen only found a Honda that was the same price beat up as the brand new Yamaha.

I already ordered the Yamaha so checking into other generators is moot for me now.

I was looking at the Engels and they are not available in the US. Since I wanted to have something for my trip in two weeks waiting really isn't an option.

I mentioned the Engel, only because I thoiught you were looking for other options. Your going to like your Yamaha generator, thats what we have as well (EF1000iS). We mainly use it for topping off the batteries.

No problem

Got the generator today and fired it up. It is really quiet. Can't wait to try it out.
