Picking up an FJ40 next week!!!

I've gotten to where I prefer a hard top...better security. I used to just not carry anything I didn't want to lose in my soft top jeeps...

Too many sticky fingers everywhere...of course the Troopy top is just too heavy and big to remove!

Is this buy a "done deal" yet? :coffee: :box:

I'm awaiting photos from my dad so that I can decide on whether I want the rig or not. From my dad's description I will get the 40. Now I just need to find a motor.... Will post photos when i get them.

Tough break losing that first one. Looked like it had a nice body and lots of good years left in her.

Good luck with the search. I brought mine to Colorado from Baton Rouge - you guys must be overloaded with 40's down there in LA :sombrero:

Ok guys,
I'm going to get the one shown above. A little rusty, but workable. Blown engine, but can find one decently cheap.

Like I mentioned

Some more pics.

The fender was recently hammered on to take out a bent fender.

NO Rust through the metal though.

Nice dash

Just a little rust on the floorboard (The rest of that is just crud)

A day with a sander on the outside, a day on the inside with a pressure washer..... should be fun.:safari-rig:

congrats if you can fix the body then swap the motor to a diesel youll never regret it... 4bt or something in the like...

My wife and I agree that we don't like the mustard yellow.

What are ya'lls thoughts on colors?
I will actually be rolling the paint on the truck. (info on IH8Mud)
Will be using Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Protective Enamel and our top color choices are Tan or Orange (wifes picks) and Tan or light grey (mine). I think we will be goint with tan just wanting input.

Here is an example of the tan using the same painting process I will use on an 80.

that 80 was photoshopped onto the beach... cool color though :)
I was thinking the same thing. I like that color. It will be my re-paint color someday...

Very dissappointed.... the guy called just now and said he had a family argument... apparently he had promised his brother the cruiser, but his brother never bought it... well... now the search is back on...

No money, no deal. What a putz.... He should have told his brother he promised to sell it to him.... If he didn't have the cash, he should have honored his agreement with you.

That's ok, you'll find another. I would have insisted on the hard top being in the deal as well.

Jan. I believe there are a couple of choices for OEM Toyota. Mine's code 464.

The great thing about tan is that it doesn't stick out, doesn't bake in the sun, and doesn't show dust and dings very well!

I don't know what it is called, looks like cement in colour, that and the cow patty green. Any of you hardcore LC guys know what I am talking about?

This is probably my favorite color for a 40.

Cement coloured one on the left.

1st one: Olive green or brown (depending on who you ask).

2nd one: I think that's Heath gray.

A good buddy of mine volunteered to take his truck and trailer and drive up with me to Louisville, Kentucky to get the cruiser. 24 hours fo driving later, I am home pulling stuff out of it, vacuuming and cleaning it up.

Pics tomorrow!:clapsmile
