Pinnacles National Park?

Pinnacles National Monument in central California may become a national park:

I've been there many times and it is one of my favorite places.

Any opinions on the proposal?

(And just to head off the erosion, let's keep politics out of the discussion, please.)

One argument offered by proponents is that designation as a National Park will raise awareness and increase tourism. The southern end of the Salinas Valley doesn't have much of an economic base save agriculture and its related businesses. And the state prison at Soledad.

I prefer reaching the Pinnacles by driving south from Hollister on CA 25 into San Benito county. The wildflower show in this area is fantastic in Spring.
