Pintle Hooks

Fun old thread!

And yes...that's about the time in 2008 that I found this 8 ton hitch (third pic shows 8 ton!) in the Jacumba Mountains along the trail for free!....:victory:

Can somebody please help me know what I have? I have never towed any little thing with my 4Runner. I've only towed Huge things with 18 Wheelers!

So here she is.

So what can I do with this. How would it be better than a reg. hitch? I have no idea.

I think 8 tons.....Exceeds me!

Is this a Pintle?

Please excuse the desert dust!

That is a combination pintle /ball setup on a receiver mount. Probably a 2" ball.

If you aren't towing a trailer with a lunette eye, it really is just going to bang knees or shins. The combo types aren't really any good for recovery unless they are the one piece castings as it could break and send the ball flying.

I have a combo mounted on my 80 pictured earlier in this thread, but I tow a military trailer and also other things with a regular ball. I need to get one of these receiver setups so I can use my military trailer with my other rigs.
