Plastic alternatives to wood for cabinet faces and trim

Looking for suggestions on a workable plastic (routable, cuttable etc.) that is also bondable and paintable.

I used starboard for my cabinet faces, but have some other areas that will require a paintable surface, and I'd like to skip wood altogether. Its a trim edge that will wrap around the camper and some weather stripping will attach to, as well as for some small instrument panels.

ABS/PVC or are there specific products that would be better for this setting?

Thanks!

I would contact TAP plastics. Seems like one of the benefits of going with a plastic is to avoid needing to stain/paint etc.

Another option is flightcase style and use one of the plastic flightcase panel materials instead of wood.

Plenty of PVC trim and board manufacturers out there.

Ive used Azek almost exclusively for the custom projects Ive been a part of.
All of them to date have been for upscale custom homes, but the stuff would work great for your application at well.

While I do love wood, PVC trim is AMAZING to work with. You practically machine it to the dimensions you want, and never have to worry about grain orientation as there is no grain.
If you are good enough and fit the joints well enough, the joints basically disappear.
Most of the PVC exterior trim Ive done for instance, didnt require any caulking. Once coat of top coat paint, and done.

Your definition of "nicer" is certainly different than mine :Wow1:

I said nice, not nicer.

Personally I do prefer the look of the flightcase or aluminium tubing construction vs plywood, or attempts to make it look like the kitchen in a home. Really depends what you are building. My goals are a simple pop-up mid-sized truck camper, nice spot to sleep and get out of the weather if it's ugly and very rarely cook inside.
