As the title states, help me Identify this RTT. Heard any reviews, good or bad? Also, what do you think it is worth in "like new condition". A vinyl cover is included I assume for transport, do you think a rain fly is needed. Thanks for your help.

I'll say it's a first generation Mombasa.

If i'm right, they sold for about $300 new. I've heard bad comments on the ladder and I do think it could use a rain fly.

Cheers,
Fernando

Yep, first Gen Mombasa. We owned that series tent. It lacked serious canvas. The walls were thin and the ladder was terrible. Never camped in the rain with ours, but yes i'd say it would need a rain fly. The one good thing about that tent is the size. It's huge. Other than that, i'd save up a little more and get a new Expedition Series Mombasa tent. The new ones are way better. Or.. offer the person $150-200 and that's it.

Goin, As others have noted, first generation Mombasa.

Think of it like the difference between a $50 dome tent verses a higher grade $175 one. The $50 one might meet your needs, although it has some draw backs and a shorter expected livespan than the more expensive ones.

I would consider it a "Summer" only tent.

I have this tent and it works great in AZ. The windows are huge and let in alot of air. The original ladder sucks. You can get a new style ladder for it from Mel at Mombasa. I dont know if i would use it in cold weather

Well I put a lot of thought to this one and opted not to buy it. I already own 3 quality ground tents in a variety of sizes and I figured that if I was to buy a rtt, it should be quality one that will serve me well here in the East. It has rained like crazy lately and that rainfly (if you want to call it that) has me a tad concerned. Here is the craigslist ad if someone is in the VA area and interested.

They were willing to sell for $200 after I explained what they had and what it was worth, although I was aiming for $150. Apparently, a decent buy if it is what you are looking for.

Thanks for the help.
