Pls Buy Some Appropriate Dam n Towing Mirrors!

Summer’s here again. Time once again for the annual pilgrimage of self centered, ignorant nimrods to hit the steep, narrow, winding mountain west roads while pulling big expensive trailers, with their big expensive tow vehicles…while refusing to spend a few bucks on getting appropriate towing mirrors installed on their rigs.

A too frequent experience today…dragging azz in a line of frustrated drivers puttering along behind a big toy hauler pulled by a very new suburban who’s driver was completely oblivious to the queue of traffic being held up behind him.

No towing mirrors on that inconsiderate owner’s rig. So he couldn’t see behind him (well, yes he could on curves, but still refused to pull into any of the slow vehicle turnouts).

Please, don’t be that guy.

If you’re going to tow a trailer that is wider than the stock mirrors on your tow rig…spend a few bucks and get extension mirrors or OEM tow mirrors put on your vehicle.

I'll be looking for two mirrors anyway. Because I swear, side view mirrors on trucks these last 15 years or so have been the size of old Camaros or something. Too busy making trucks sporty and fast looking. Seems like older trucks always had big square mirrors and I have to get tow mirrors just to have something like that

I agree it's safer to see what's behind you. I have a very small 18 foot trailer that is 80" wide. My tow vehicle is a gx 460 so I am border line on needing wider mirrors. I always assume I am slowing people down on steep mountain passes. Even on the steepest pass I can maintain 60 mph. One thing I will not do especially in heavy traffic is pull over on some stetchy emergency lane or even a smooth emergency lane if I have to sit there and try to get back into traffic.

What is more dangerous to me is folks driving way to fast in monster rigs. I mean what is the hurry. Just because the speed limit is 80 doesn't mean you have to go that fast.

Do it for the 'gram
People that don't pull over to let others pass will not benefit from tow mirrors. Nor will they benefit from PSAs or family interventions. They will only benefit from a permanent loss of driving privileges.
