We have a cj5 we are building for cross country trip to ride mtn passes in CO

Just wanting some opinions
A. stretch the cj5 to a cj6
B. Build trailer to pull behind the 5
C. Both

I voted stretch :)

I would probably just buy a replacement cj6 tub and frame. Then just transfer everything you have over. That wouldn't be the cheapest way to do it, but it would probably be the easiest.

I think with a cj6 your still going to have to pack light!

Both, the CJ5 will ride and handle better when it is extended. It will also pull the trailer better.

CJ5 is too much of a classic to stretch! I voted trailer and make it all match and you will have me green with envy... :wings:

I voted stretch. Ther are a lot of cj5s out there. Trailers are cool but kind of a pain on the trail. I would love to one day stretch a cj7 since scramblers are so rare.

I vote stretch but I'm a wee bit bias.

My CJ9 (CJ7 +18") on airbags. I have no regrets. I have a back seat in the OEM location and almost 3' behind it. Take the seat out and I got a 5' cargo area.

Well looks like will be starting the stretch in a week or so. Hoping to have it finished by march since our wheeling season starts then. Then over the summer will stretch the top and start on a matching trailer:sombrero:

Stretch it. I stretched my TJ to an LJ and it is the best mod I have done. Tons of room. I would have bought a tub from a wrecked/damaged LJ if I had to do it all over though. I hate fabbing sheetmetal.
