The HS2000 Propex draws 1.4-1.9 amps.

The Propex units have a single fan / output speed and just turn on and off as the thermostat cycles, correct? My reference point would be an Espar D2 which, on paper, it seems to be pretty close to. Is it comparable in real life, or is the 2800 a better match?

Correct, a single speed fan. The Espar D2 at 7500btu (on boost) is closest to the HS2000 and HS2211 at 6500btu output. The HS2800 is 9700btu. I like the Espar D2 and have one in my TDI Syncro camper. With the optional muffler it is still a little louder than a Propex, but on other stages about equal, dropping to a whisper on low.
