In our case, toilet was the one on the major criteria that would determine our camping trips where we were going in the last 2 decades of camping. After tips from this website, we are very glad that we went for composting toilet. Now we feel we finally got freedom from years of restriction in this case. Incidentally it is the most expensive item in our current setup, and after couple of trips in the bush we feel it is worth every cent. It has passed the test in every sector. Though comparatively expensive initially, there is no smell, no chemicals, no water, no sloshing on off road trips, minimal maintenance and running cost is negligible - about $3-4/month for a couple!
