Doesn't is suck to have the spare tire inside? I always lamented that solution in my LR3, but didn't have the cash for a rear bumper assembly.

Spare is inside by choice, I hate swing out anything. 80 was equipped with a Slee swing out bumper when purchased. Did not suit my style of off road travel so I sold it and built a 4x4 Labs bumper for maximum clearance. Been happy ever since.

Awesome builds and ideas. I'm looking forward to making one myself and this thread has helped big time.

Blain,

I like the attic idea, i have seen it a few times now. Do you have any up close pics of how it is attached?

Hey Ron
Versailles 10 miles west of Lexington. Ever make it up this way?

Haven't been up your way in years, my travels most always take me westward. :sombrero: Love the Rockies and the red rock of Utah. Ron

I decided to go with Pelican cases since my cruiser runs without a top for over half the year and water and dust are real issues when wheeling without a top. I also like that I can pop them into my other rig, or a friends and know my gear is organized, dry and safe. I have been scouring craigslist for weeks and have landed some great deals on these cases, and with a little trading I have had very little money out of pocket. I have to land on a method for securing them down, but I think I am going to go with load-tracks and the ring tie downs. I might bolt a few tracks to the floor of the 40, and a few to the fender wells. From there I can strap or turnbuckle the cases down. Should be fun. I have two soft bags with fluids, recovery gear, and basic tools that ride in the truck 24/7. (barely visible behind the boxes) and I run a few soft dry bags for clothes and sleeping bags.

2 Pelican 1600's, one on each wheel well.
1 Pelican 1630 (large trunk for latern, tent, spares, bulkier items).
1 Pelican 1650 that serves as my chuck box with everything for the kitchen riding inside.
