Post up your drawer/storage system

Looks great Simon! Wondering why you felt you needed drawers for the waffle boards? Seems like they would slide in and out of just the cubbies fairly easy and would save some weight and space. Is it to keep mud contained if you need to use them somewhere sloppy?

Pretty much...I was thinking of making some bags to put the boards in to contain any mud, but as I had bought a pack of 10 pairs of slider rails I thought I'd build a drawer instead..:)

The whole thing is very heavy and if I did a Mk2 version I'd be looking for a serious weight loss program..!

Patio, that is a smart job on the flip up jerry can holder slot. Great idea.

Couplands, wow! impressive engineering into that bit of furniture. How much weight are you adding with all the storage capacity? Did you have to upgrade your rear springs?

Thank. Yup, it's heavy at around 90kg (200pounds..?). Land Rovers have a huge payload and springs are already heavy duty. Nevertheless, it dropped the rear ride height by around an inch. Been thinking of getting +2" springs to give my height back and some.

Plus, you can double that weight with all the crap (I mean recovery gear) that I carry..:)

Thanks nwoods, it has a strap vertically holding it down and the horizontal one is just to keep the flipped up panel from flopping around. I have had the Rotopax inside for about 2 years now and no fumes whatsoever. Given the horrible range of a loaded 3rd Gen it is nice to have a few gallons of spare fuel with you.

I went through your build and it looks like this is your second set of drawers. I'm looking to build something similar for my 4Runner. Do you have any details on this build? I'm interested to know if you change any materials or method of construction because it didn't work the way you thought it would.

The construction method was the same. All the hardware is the same too. The only difference is the design and I sprayed the primer and enamel paint. Any questions let me know.

Crazy easy Chuck Box setup...

Chuck Box 2.jpgChuck Box 1.jpg

What an awesome thread with so many creative setups!

I needed a easily removable setup that would could be stored in the garage when I'm using for other projects. Allows me to have pre-packed clear totes for bedding and other gear that I can throw on top, but not have to remove when I need to start prepping for meals

Anyone have a setup that slides out, but uses some kind of "quick disconnect" for removal?

my road box

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic so I had an old stainless steel top box that I didn't really use at the shop cause most of my tools are in my service truck. So I thought it would be perfect as a drop in drawer unit and it fit perfectly.
