At 6'3" I would Go with the trooper.
A couple years ago I talked my friend into buying a fully loaded Trooper. He loved it. But rust in the NorthEast did it in. With a 3" Lift some minor trimming he was running 35x12.5s, He had enough room for his 2 Dogs 1-Boxer and 1 small 35 pound dog. 3 Year Old, His Wife, and enough storage for a 3-4 day weekend.
Im torn between the 1ST Gen Explorer and the Trooper. Im not ready to buy until after X-mas, So I have time to look and decide. It will probably boil down to what I can get the best deal on. Im with you. I prefer leather over Cloth, Easier to clean and way more comfortable.
