Tons of great info on bikes on this forum. I've been a member for a few years but have never posted because I still don't have another bike yet. From cruising the posts I am pretty sure what bike I want to get.

Great site.

Avid lurker there. Probably once a day watching for a Canadian GSA deal.

Strong community, but different culture then ExPo.

Lurker and sometimes poster. I feel bad getting too much into talking about it until I have a bike again, but I still post here and there. I actually spend almost as much time on ADV as ExPo....but post less over there.

And yes....it is an ENTIRELY different culture. Ride reports are fine.....but don't venture into the basemen (Jo Mamma) unless you are wearing your big boy pants :Wow1:

I love everything about ADVrider. I have been a member there since 2001 and frequent the site a bunch. Having said that, I only have about 240 posts. I don't really care about the post thing but it plays into the perceived heirarchy of the site. All the people I have met or have seen travelling with the ADV oval have been great. We are lucky to have a whole bunch of great guys in California that I have really enjoyed meeting. Richard Cabesa is on the ADV rider sight and frequents this site as well. They have calmed down the specific forums regarding content but Jomomma is still open to anything.
It is a different type of website compared to the Expo. Like somebody said it is like a bunch of motorcycle riders around the campfire. A huge group of enthusists and a wealth of knowledge of all things moto and a great site for trip information as well. If you offend easily or can't take a joke or have no sense of humor, then ADVrider will not be your place. I have seen many a person disappear after a stupid post.

Jeeze no kidding.... I have to think twice about how I respond to people on there.... I get worked up easy when people become stupid on ADV....

I have a couple pictures in the front page.

ADV is hilarious! Is that a Transalp? (I need a windshield for my girlfriend's bike)

Yeh its a transalp...

And speaking of photos.... I wish we could have gotten a picture of me and the guy pushing the TA when he road 2up with me from Shreveport, La to Dallas, Tx (6hrs) to get the Trans Alp. When we were riding back, the CDI went out on the bike causing him to go very slowly....

It was a sight the two of us. We had truckers flipping us the bird and everything when we passed. I could only imagine the talk on the CB.:xxrotflma

Our wives got a kick out of it too...

Been lurking for the last year, guess there is quite the crowd of us :D

Started out on 2 wheels, sold my last bike (CR250) in 02' and have been jonesing since. The wife and I have been casually shopping for some good DS's for the last year. We are hoping to re-fi our house this fall, bikes are next on the list

I purchased a motorcycle this year to do exploring around SW Idaho and SE Oregon- a lot less money than driving the Trooper and a lot of fun too. I heard about ADV from someone on this forum. I must say I love the ride reports and the regional forums. They have shown me a ton of areas to explore right outside my back door. That is what I enjoy most, for the most part everyone is willing to share their routes and waypoints. Also great info on a number of bikes, but not too technical or snobby like the brand specific forums.

Glad to see a number of you over there as well.
