Guys, I've been looking at a couple different vehicles lately. The double cab Tacoma being one of them. I stopped by a dealer today just to look one and ended up talking price, trade in numbers, etc. It sounds like a decent deal but wanted y'all's opinion. Its a TRD-OR, auto and tow package...white, too. Other than that, pretty basic set up...I left the dealer because i couldnt get him to put leather in it for the $31,800. He said to add leather it would be an extra $1200. does that sound right or high? Of course, the MSRP after all the ridiculous dealer add-ons started around $36k!

$31,800

Also, do you guys know if they can add the HD rubber flooring post-factory (like say, at the port where they'd install the leather)? Sales dude said NO :(

Thanks fellas!

Leather is installed not by the dealer but by an independent shop. It's not Toyota factory. Flooring needs to be ordered with the truck $50 extra. My dealer told me it would be 6-8 weeks to have it built. I just went with the carpet instead and added the WeatherTech floor liners.

That price is about what I paid. Just have the dealer match carsdirect.com pricing.

I went to Mountain States Toyota (in Denver) in June and got the following quote in writing, assuming I was leasing.

MSRP - 32,975 White DCSBOR, Towing package, Non nav touchscreen.
Discount - 2,824
True Price - 30,151 (their words, not mine)
Delivery - 499
Total - 30,650

That was with zero negotiating. They did offer before I left that they might have another $500 to give. Leasing changes the picture a bit, because if they are lucky enough to get the truck back in three years, it will be worth quite a bit more then the residual, so they have some extra profit there. Also, the interest rate in the lease was 6.5%, which is ridiculously high these days.

Check Katzkin for leather pricing. I think it would be about 900 for the DC, not including install. So the dealer pricing on that seems fair given the labor.

Mountain States says that they are the 6th largest seller of Toyota trucks in the country.

Good luck finding something you like.

My rig is a SR5 because I ran into the pricing problem with TRDs in Albuquerque.

V6, Double cab, stickshift touch radio, SR5, tow hitch

30,400 out the door with delivery, taxes, and dealer mark ups.

TRD rigs were starting at high 32k and going up from there....

Thanks guys! I've been going back and forth on what to Replace my Tundra with. If the Taco was a great deal...it would've helped persuade me. I've also been looking at 5th gen 4runners and 100 series. All would fit my needs and all of them have pros/cons. Decisions decisions....

Well, I bought a '13 T4R Trail on Saturday. I hope to start a build thread soon. I didn't get to test out the locking rear diff, atrac, manual transfer case, crawl control etc. but I know it will be there when I need it. I basically drove it straight to the airport and parked it to fly out to McCall, ID. I'll be in ID, OR and WA for the next two weeks. I'm excited to be on vacation but I'm looking forward to getting back and into the Runner.

Thanks to everyone responding to this thread!

I paid $29,500 for mine before tax, tag but after delivery charge. Sticker was $33,650. I feel like I got a fair deal. I shopped around and didn't budge from the price I wanted to pay. It took a few weeks, but in the end... I got a sweet truck for the price "I" wanted.
