Hey guys and girls, things have been pretty hectic around here since before christmas and they don't seem to be slowing down. If its not one thing its another haha the progress on the truck is pretty slow right now thanks to my move into my new house and me not working right now thanks to lay-offs being done in the oil and gas industry here in Alberta. But I did find something pretty cool today when I was keeping the internet company...
Its my truck! before it got lifted up 6" and stood up on 35's and given that horrible rattle can paint job that is unfortunately still sporting. I found it online by accident and started looking closer at it and realized it has the same lift and wheel and tire combo as mine, then i saw the Alberta plate and had to figure out where it was from. So I clicked the link and started digging a little more and found out that a shop no more then 5 minutes from my parents house had done the work. So I hopped in the truck and headed over there and started talking with the shop to see if it might actually be mine. A few minutes later we checked the VIN and boom there is was my big ugly black beast finally had a story to tell me! Turns out that the shop had done all the maintenance on the truck since 2010 but hadn't see hide nor hair of it since august of 2013. They did the lift on the truck too which made it look amazing, i don't know what the bozo in Pincher was thinking painting it rattle can black...
It also used to have a grey leather interior which from what I hear was in great shape, but was pulled out and dyed black. Some of the parts were done very well and look stock where as others were rushed and don't look good at all, but they will all be stripped cleaned very well and then re-dyed properly. I love the grey leather my other 2 door Tahoe has grey leather but now that Ive had the black for a few months its grown on me and looks really slick it just needs to be done right and accented here and there.
I thought it was pretty cool that I accidentally and randomly managed to track down my truck and put a history behind it!
Wow Black Pearl that is so cool that you could get that info on your truck. I really cant understand why the guy painted it rattle can, unless there was some serious rust issues. I look forward to seeing what you do with your rig as you know I drive one that looks like it..
Awesome truck, very rare find! That's really cool you were able to uncover some history behind the vehicle!
I'm VERY interested in seeing how this build progresses. I'm especially intrigued with your side window hatch idea, as I was contemplating this idea two or three weeks ago!
Hey everyone I'm sorry its been so long since I have posted anything! Everything has been put on hold for a while here while Alberta try to figure its stuff out. So while we patiently wait for that to happen and me to go back to work up north where the real money is I figured id go blow off a little steam in Kelowna and took a few pictures for you guys in the process
The bridge was way to narrow for my big beasty to get across so I had to take to the water, but i had to wait as two guys in a geo tracker and a toyota tried to get the toy out of the water haha they came from the opposite side and the tracker could squeeze through the bridge but the toy was to wide and tried the river but didn't have the clearance to get up the rocks on the other side, so he turned around and had to come back up but the snow and ice kept him in there and had to get a pull from the tracker that ran over a branch and blew up a tire haha after they changed the full-size flat from a doughnut they finally got him out of there and it was my turn to see what I could do
That side was too narrow for me too, there was a nice big rock on the right and two trees on the left and a whole lot of ice in the middle, i tried to pile some rocks to see if i could get my tire up on the big rock but it just wasn't working
So off to plan B
it didn't go much better haha I some how managed to spin myself around in that tiny little space and started up the other side but the snow hid a nice little tire trap that I missed when I walked it and my front drivers side got sunk down, so out came the come-along and I popped back out, turned around again and went back up the rocks that the toyota couldn't conquer, I'm a little sad that i didn't get pictures of that because it was a pretty big drop off and a good angle. I do have some videos that ill post later that make me smile because all you can hear is the turbo unwinding as i back off the throttle haha
How did I miss this little pictoral of your adventures Pearl? Looks like a cool run and your truck seemed to handle the terain quite well. Thanks for posting up! Cheers, Chilli...:wings:
