Great looking progress Mike. Trully an epic:Wow1: build you have going there. We are a lot of guys here on expo watching your build so lets see those updates as you get time to do them. We all wait in anticipation:drool: as you sneak the odd pic or 2 into the site. Cheers, Chilli..:)

Odd pic or two? How about 3- I got that 2" I was looking for - actually a hair more... :)

Best of Luck,

Well those that are following along are probably sick and tired of looking at this axle. Believe me- I'm sick and tired of working on the dumb thing! I'm not a fab guy so I'm learning as I go. Unfortunately doing things twice means learning the hard way. Regardless, I have reworked the link bridge in an attempt to maximize clearance and gain as much up travel as I can get without lifting- if I can avoid it that is... This is as tight as I can get it without actually cutting the housing and doing a real "shave" like TMR and the like. I don't want to get too carried away there as I still want to maintain decent vertical separation on the upper link, hopefully this will work well for that. I actually gained a bit over the 2" I was after doing this, and got clearance at the frame rails and oil pan as well. This buys me damn near 6" at the frame now so I'm thinking towards clearancing/sectioning where needed to get my goal of 7" up travel. Gotta deal with the engine first, we'll see in time...

Anyway, sorry for boring everyone half to death with the same old thing here lately, thanks for the patience. This isn't as cool or purty as the fancy truss's but I think it will work for what I need. The pics help keep me motivated as the frustration often gets discouraging. At least it's progress, and now I can move on to a few other things.

Thanks again and Best of Luck,

Mike

Thanks guys! I prefer to run a 50/50 split on the shock travel. I've run many different setups in the past on different rigs with splits all over the board. I've been happiest with a 50/50 setup so with planned 14" travel coil overs on Suburban HD, the goal is to get 7" up and have 7" down. We'll see how close I can get to that. If I'd just compromise and lift the dumb thing, I'd have been done already, but I have to do everything the hard way and trying to pull it off with absolute minimum lift required. We'll see how it works out in the end. It's very tight and a ton of work. Not sure if I can pull it off or not, but sure going to give it hell trying.

Best of Luck,

Mike

How do they attach, with the truss there?

Good question- are you asking about how the shock/coilovers will mount, or the links themselves? The links will be easy- I know I want lowers as low as I can get them without dropping too far below the tube and still maintaining as much vertical separation as I can get. The upper will just fit on the top upper plate as far in as I can get yet still clearing the oil pan and balancer. Where ever I can squeeze it in. As to coilovers/shocks mounts- I'm not sure yet. Will cross that bridge when I get there. I'm waiting on some parts to arrive later this week to get started making more room for the links- right now the upper has no where to go with the big engine support/suspension mount in the way. Gotta figure out what to do there first then will fit the rest as I get there.

Best of Luck,

Mike

I was curious where the spring perches will go (coils, right?) as well as the links.

Side note, when you're done, you wanna come up to WA for a little bit, and do mine next?? :D
