Thanks for posting the additional pic of the hose protection. We've got a LOT of wiring to do and will tackle that at the same time.

I'd like to know more about your roof rack...looked good. Is that custom?

Looking great! I'm surprised straight axles are legal. What happens if you actually run *over* a pedestrian? Seems to me that they may want to require IFS, and only for the skid plate so that you actually slide over the pedestrian. Oops! I don't want to give them any more ideas.:smiley_drive:

here's to the roofrack question :)

when i needed the roofrack i didn't see anything i liked. i didn't want to bolt into the sheet metal on the sides. i thought of placing a rack on the bumper, but if you hit the bumper, things move, after all it was going to be mounted on the windshield frame in front...

so i decided to build my own and designed what i thought was a clever idea and unique. as it turned out later some other people had the same or similar ideas :-(
sitting the roofrack on the lip under the hardtop seemed like a good place for mounting...

well, anyway, i'm happy with it and it works really well. i think i can park a mini on top of that thing.

if you look closely, you see the tabs it is sitting on.
in the front it bolts to the windshield frame...
those are the tabs before the rack was welded on:

and here the current stage:
there will be a few more mods to finish it (to that later when it's done...)

just in case anybody is wondering:
i left the front intensionally open, so i can still remove the front hardtop panels...

I really like you how did that...clean design and installation. Great job! :D

I'm guessing where you are there aren't many low hanging tree branches. I say that because of where you placed the lights.

That's a real nice looking rack. I'm figuring out how to do one on my 2dr JK, and that might be how to go. I think the rear bars might also be able to connect to the back via the tail light holes but haven't checked yet.

thanks for the compliments, guys...

no, there are no low branches, but i might find some :sombrero:
the lights are mounted temporarily. i'll be finishing the roofrack in april and will build 'light boxes' like i had on my xj:

then i don't worry about tree branches anymore :victory:

I really like those light boxes
thx, they did their job well.
i used that old trick...
'form followes function' and designed them accordingly.

and i've liked it - that's why they're also going on the JK :victory:
