Yet another epic Baja Adventure!!

Looks like we visited a lot of the same places as the group the weekend before did.

Our trip was awesome, but wayyyy too short. This should have been a 4-5 day trek, but we still had a blast and saw TONS of cool stuff!

Rigs:

(2) 80 Series Landcruiser
2nd Gen Toy PU
99 Taco 2wd
Dodge MegaCab Diesal
Jeep TJ

Route:

Day1
-Cross in TJ
-Get Mex 3 In Ensenada
-Fuel In Valle De Trinida
-San Felipe For Fish Tacos and More Fuel
-San Felipe to Puertecitos for La Tienda for Ice and Beer
-Continue South To Gonzaga Bay Enjoying Amazing Views!
-Arrive at Campo Beluga 4pm +/-

Day 2
-Early AM 4x4 Exploration of Punta Bufeo, and Surrounding Areas
-Snorkel near Alphonsinas
-Swim @ Campo Beluga
-Fish @ Campo Beluga
-Catch 2 Large "Trigger Fish" @ Campo Beluga
-Make awesome fish tacos with said fish

Day 3
-Early AM Swim
-Continue South to CocO Corner
-Enjoy the awesome views to Catavina
-Fuel in El Rosario
-Awesome Food in San Quintin
-Scary Ride Through San Vincente Onward in Pitch Black
-Arrive at Border at 11pm
-Cross by 11:30pm, Most Cool!

Total Miles = 825

This should have been spread out over 4-5 days and we knew that starting off, but we were pressed for time and made the best out of it. Everyone had an awesome time, and the couple first timers that came with us are itching to go back! What a gorgeous place!

Thanks to Al and Allen for the tips! Allen, i left you a note on your door! :D

Here are some pics from various areas:

Silly question, but I don't know my warmer water fish too well... what kind of fish is that?

Triggerfish. In Mexico, they're called "Cochis". Good eating, but when removing the hook, you gotta use a good set of pliers. They've got a mouth like a zombie redneck--all crooked, sharp teeth and a powerful jaw. Stick a finger in there and "adios señor dedo"!

Looks like you guys stayed in the same palapa as we did at Campo Beluga. Good to see that they got some mid-week business, 'cause when we were there over the weekend, the place was dead.

It's an amazing place, isn't it? I haven't been able to get my mind off of it, and I can't wait to go back.

How a fish becomes a taco: very funny.

Coco's Corner: Have a cold beer and - please - staple your underwear to the ceiling before you leave.

You're putting in a ton of Baja miles this Spring, eh?

If you don't mind my asking, what were your travel times after crossing into TJ?

We came from L.A., and went East on the 10, then south through Imperial County to Calexico. Our travel times were L.A. to Calexico in ~4 hrs., Mexicali to San Felipe in ~3 hrs., San Felipe to Puertecitos in ~2 hrs., Puertecitos to Gonzaga in ~3.5 hrs. With plenty of stops for supplies, lunch, gas, etc., our total travel time for day one was ~16 hrs.

Some guys we met had come in from the Mex 1 and crossed over from Cataviña to Gonzaga. They said that even though the distance was greater, the speeds were dramatically higher, so it took less time. They did say, however that there were many more semi trucks to encounter, which made the drive a bit more hairy.

I can be in TJ in ~2.5 hours with no traffic. If the Mex 1 to the Mex 3 offers a more direct route, I'd probably do that instead. What say ye?
