HA! Honestly, i dont know the first thing about fishing. It was my buddies gear.

What i do know, is that we tried these fake soft tails mounted onto a hook called a lead head and didnt catch a damn thing.

Then we tried these BRIGHT ORANGE fake rubber crabs that come in a ziplock type bag and the label bragged that they outfish like bait 400% and bla bla bla, 10x the scent, this that and the next thing.

Those fake rubber crabs were amazing! Almost EVERY time we put the thing in the water we caught SOMETHING. Most had to be thrown back due to size, but if you catch and release anyway, these are PERFECT!

EDIT: Tracked them down, it was Berkley Power Bait:

hah! thanks for the tip - i'm basically fishing for entertainment while the mrs. sleeps late in the morning. if it's edible, all the better. i'll pick up some of the crabbies and mussels and see how they work out - you're not the first to mention the powerbait. it seems to really live up to the hype.

i've also purchased a hawaiian sling type shooter for underwater adventures. we'll see how that turns out...

thx,
matt
