Hola Amigos! Been enjoying the good life lately, my wife and I have been hoofing around Costa Rica before we finally made our way to the Dom. Republic for some beach time R&R. I brought along my netbook as a backup source for my files and figured now that I have a decent Wifi signal I can share a few shots. I haven't had time to go through all of my shots, and I still need to run these through processing to clean some of them up, but for those who have been to Costa Rica, and those who have not, these should give you an idea of where I've been.
Starting in San Jose we made our way towards La Fortuna/Arenal Volcano. La Fortuna is a fantastic spot for outdoor fun. Almost anything you can think of doing can be done in the Fortuna area. Want to do some white water rafting, done, want to do some fantastic canyoneering, I know just the spot. Of course if you just want to sit in natural hot springs or check out Arenal you can do that as well. We took a night trip to the active side of the volcano to try and see some lava. We saw some sporadic lava rocks rolling down the side of the volcano but all in all the volcano was fairly quiet during our time there. The growing volcano certainly is an imposing figure when standing in the center of town.
From La Fortuna we took a bus and made our way towards Monteverde. I loved Monteverde and would love to have spent more time exploring this area. The country side is absolutely gorgeous, and heading up into the mountains of the cloud forests will blow your mind. The cloud forest brings a new meaning to the word 'green.' Below are a few shots of the Monteverde country side and some taken in the cloud forest.
Word of advice. If shooting in the cloud forest bring plenty of dry cloths for your lenses and be sure your camera equipment is protected from moisture. I used a Kata E-702 elements cover and will highly recommend it. My gear was dry as a bone despite the challenge of shooting in constant rain and mist.
Next we made our way down to the coast where we lived the bohemian life for a few days in Manuel Antonio. Manual Antonio is a chill little beach town with a great national park by the same name. Lots to do here, and lots to see. If you're in Costa Rica Manual Antonio is certainly worth a visit.
