Lots, but the prices everywhere in CR seem to be pretty high as far as south/central american standards go. There are much better deals to be had in Brazil if you're in the market.
Supply and demand, really. I've found a few, what I would call, "deals" online down there. CR is a great country though, isnt it?

I did actually, and I hit my head on the tree branch when walking upstairs, a memorable moment to say the least. LOL. I know they made a great Mojito because I had about 4 of them, but can't remember what I ate. I did really liked the funky atmosphere there though.
As far as where we stayed I can't recall the names. We were backpacking so most places were just cheap simple hotels, the only name I do recall is a hotel between Manuel Antonio and Quepos called Mono Azul or Blue Monkey. In Santa Elena we stayed in a hotel just on the skirts of town owned and run by a couple sisters. It was nice, really clean, all wood inside, hot showers, and they made us breakfast!

For outdoor fun I'd have to say it's hard to beat. You get a lot of diversity within a 5 hour drive any which way you go. Not a ton in the way of cultural differences though, it's a very modern country, but it is nice. Just one of many though, but I'd certainly go back.
True, but the general lack of violence and the comfort of it being a safe and stable country is very appealing, especially for relocation. Yeh, its not a very colorful country as far as culture goes, but its still different and feels more comfy for me in the way of climate and the pura vida--- manana--- lifestyle. Not to mention the fun stuff to do.
If you ever get the chance, visit Nicaragua. Its different in a whole different way.

Someday, although I didn't find Costa Rica all that crowded. Peru, our last trip before this one seemed a lot more busy with tourists. I also have a feeling Panama is on the verge of being the next big adventure spot. I know a few people who have been or are going there in the near future. Perhaps I should get there sooner than later.
I should have your wife talk to mine, mine can be pretty persuasive, of course it's usually to my wallets detriment though. LOL
Here are a few I've had a chance to run through lightroom. I'm still trying to find the time to get through them all.
