Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is one of the primary greenhouse gasses concerning environmental scientists....the less you can create, the better everybody is. Do your part...breathe less :sombrero:

If it's derived from air the net effect is zero.

Anyone mention a mixing valve? Solar HW can be......hot.

PVC is perfectly fine for water, as most modern water mains are run with some sort of pvc type tubing. The only possible down side is pvc gets brittle after some time exposed to UV light. And if its ever underpressure and becomes brittle it will shatter.

That is correct. Main water lines in subdivisions up to 8" are usually C900 PVC. Feed to your house, and all the plumbing in it, if the house was built in the last 20 years, is also PVC. As mentioned before, non-union homes also have a good chance of having CPVC.

Your irrigation lines and outside spigots are also PVC. They may be topped by a metal fixture (in the case of spigots), but behind that is PVC. They handle pressure, just like your house lines. If you get enough pressure in your shower or outside hose, it will also handle that pressure on your roof rack.

You are right about water mains....they also are done in steel.

You should never drink from an irrigation line....PVC pipe has nothing to do with it.

Every house here where I live has been done with copper pipe for 20 or so years. Before that it was all galvanized. In 14 yrs of crawling around under houses here I have never seen one plumbed using PVC. New houses are all done with Pex pipe unless it is a big mansion, then it is copper.

I think you can drink from PVC pipe no worries. But if you don't have to why do it? It is kind of like that sucking on a penny thing....

The pipes in my house are galvanized and after 30+ years full of rust. I am on a well. I don't drink my tap water without filtering it...but that is just a personal decision.
