Question 4 Expedition Taco Experts

So, I am wanting to build a sleeping platform in the back of a 2nd gen AC LB Tacoma.

I wondered if it would be possible/comfortable to get a A.R.E. MX style shell (Raised Roof) and then build a sleeping platform high enough to fit an Engel or A.R.B. fridge underneath it? Would I have enough room above?

Pictures would be GREATLY appreciated if someone has already done this.

that would be a very tight fit while sleeping.

i think the fridge could be installed in a cutout of the platform and on a slider but i think most fridges are close to the level of the bedside.

sounds like a bad idea to me honestly, the high topper really helps give you headroom for changing/moving around, make a notch in your sleeping platform for the fridge or have longer cables to take the fridge out of the truck when sleeping if you need the room

ARB makes 4 different sized fridges. The 37 and 67 qt size fridge is 17 in tall and the 50 and and 83 qt are 20 inches. It might be possible to do what you want, although having a fully enclosed fridge would decrease air-flow to the condenser making the compressor work more.

Put the fridge in the cab?

Thanks all.

I am not saying it wouldn't have room around it I just want to put the bed over it. There would be room on the sides so air could get to the back of the fridge where the compressor fan is located.

If I went with an ARB 67 qt at 17" high . . . maybe it is possible. How high are the sides of the bed from the bottom of the bed?

I've had a sleeping platform level with the top of my bedrails. I slept in it one night under my can-back. Felt like I was sleeping in a coffin. My .02.

If you're like me, you won't like it...my platform was shorter than one that you're describing and it's still cramped. I vote for putting it in the cab too.
