Question for Pintle/Lunette users owner

Pintle setup

The best setup for the pintle is to use the original "Parrots Beak" hook that was sold for CJs and FCs.

I've used the second one down on the road and off for many years and tens of thousands of towing miles with ZERO issues, very little noise/banging and have absolute confidence I'll damage the vehicle connection before the pintle/lunette fail.

Best towing setup out there, bar none.

The guy I bought my M416 from had slid a black rubber pipe coupler (the kind used with tow clamps to joint two pieces of PVC together as a quick fix coupler). He claimed it took up some of the room inside the large military lunette and helped dampen the bang of metal on metal?

Thoughts?
