Question for the Tundra Guys

Ok, I have thought long and hard about my next vehicle and have come to the conclusion that a first generation tundra will fit all of my needs. Question: can you put an ARB air locker in a TRD LSD rear diff? Thought I had heard that you can't. If you can is there anything special that needs to done other than the standard install procedures.

Unfortunately you cannot put an ARB in an LSD diff/carrier. The carriers for the LSD are smaller and the ARB will not fit. What you can do is trade for a stock oped diff 3rd and then install the ARB. I'm sure there is someone who would love your LSD that has an open end, so its a win win. Also its very easy to swap out thirds, just make sure its the right gear ratio, 3.91's. You won't regret an ARB or the Tundra, great trucks!! Love mine!

Oh ok that clears things up, thank you for the quick response. Well if anybody sees this any wants a LSD and has an open diff to trade let me know. Can you buy a third member with gears already installed? Is there a website I could just order one from? Then I could just sell the other. Again, thank you for the information.

Yeah I saw that website, might just go that route. If you want the third ill sell it to you. I wonder if 4.10 gearing would be much better. I have 4:88 on my 98 4cyl taco and def doesn't like going above 65-70 mph.

I'm looking at getting thirds from justdiffs in the near future. Front and rear 4.56 gears with an ARB locker in the rear.

and since I just realized you're in San Diego, the classifieds on socaltundras.com would be a good place to try and sell your LSD.
