question regarding mounting RTT on trailer top

Yes, custom made equipment is great. Of course, many of us are "welding impaired". For us there is Adventure Trailers and the talented fabricators on this site.

Nope...no trouble at all.
My CVT has a pair of aluminum rails that is mounts on, this is the stock way to fasten it to whatever it is you want to mount it to. You slide in the stainless hardware, and away you go. This raises the base of the RTT about 3/4 of an inch off the lid. Also with the way my sides slope down on an angle to match the tub, I have lots of room.

Can see in this pic how much space there is. The flap hangs down over the zipper an inch or so all the way around.

Greg that sure is ALOT of red!!! Are you related to Mark Harley??

Just giving you a little grief. It looks great

i just made up a support system formy new RTT. uses isolation bushingsto keep down noise. Some day I'll geta proper sealed lid-- iuntilthen, this will support kayaks and a lot more, plus pull 4 pins and off it comes.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Love RED too!

But if the 2500HD was any other color to start with the trailer and contents would match!

I'd use a rack, unless you live in a really dry place. I would think moisture could be an issue if you directly mount it. I went with a Rhino rack on my trailer. As someone else suggested, get three load bars, not two, especially if you plan on going off road. I opted for only two load bars on my trailer and darn near lost my Eezi Awn tent off the lid when a couple of bolts came loose off-road. I now have three load bars. Much sturdier, and if something rattles loose again, I won't be in danger of loosing the tent.
