Questions/Advice for 1988 Chevrolet Suburban 4wd

As for a daily driver, stay away from it, not because you can't use it, but because it's that old, there are going to be always something to fix or upgrade. And for that price, way to expensive. I love old square bodys, they are solid (at least here in Guatemala, where we have no snow, and I don't live by the sea), and are comfortable, and can fit a lot of people. I have 4 kids thats why I love suburbans, but I don't think that's your case.
I just bought an 89 for $900 (here in Guatemala) and invested in it $200 for a complete tune up and I'm using it as my daily driver, but I have a list of things to fix, and 4 other vehicles I can use when this one is parked.
I think you can find something more modern for that price that has 4X4. Problably a Trooper, Rodeo, Blazer, Jimmy, o even a Tahoe or Yukon. As for the trade, that's a different story, and adds complexity to the deal. But keep on trying to sell your car, somebody will come along. Best of luck.
