Questions: Pop top install options on a van

Good morning,

I understand that this question may seem absurd to the folks that have the Sportsmobile, but I was wondering if there are other options than Sportsmobile for the DIY folks that like to put things together themselves.

I am wondering if there is an outfit that sells a pop-top style camper expansion to install on vans.

Thanks for humoring me,
Chris

The only other company I know of that does a pop top is gtrv do a search for it and you will find it. I built my own because I could not afford a smb or gtrv. I started my whole project with the idea of selling it as a kit or installing them on vans and selling them. Right now I have a few to many things in my plate to start producing them but If you like mine I can offer a lot of assistance in building your own. Here is a thread of it the last few pages have the finished pictures.

While I did not press the situation, I asked if GTRV would sell the parts for a DIY installation and they said no. I can only assume there is too much liability in that equation.

They did my installation and I am more than satisified with it.

They are just southeast of Vancouver BC, with the US sales rep based in California.

Some guys have taken the camper top off of a VW Eurovan and installed it on a fullsize van. There are some builds over at Sportsmobileforum that used this method.
